ABOUT ME

Also see: for my writing credentials, underwater photos, and more: http://www.mielikki.org/

I’m a multilingual (French, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish) and DIY Renaissance woman (arts, music, nature, science–Leonardo da Vinci is my idol) and I’ve been fortunate enough to have lived in France, China, Costa Rica, and Spain before I became a teacher in my native San Diego. I’ve written for Lonely Planet, Fodor’s, the Associated Press, Wall Street Journal, and National Geographic Adventure Magazine.

I love the water, and especially swimming with San Diego leopard sharks. You can visit my other website with my writing samples at www.mielikki.org

When I’m not teaching, swimming. or making something, I’m spending time with my family (including my hydrophilic bengal cat Kitara). And I occasionally perform with the flamenco groups Flamenco Arana and Funmenco! of North County.
